CHARITY FAIRCHILD
The longer it takes me to find Mr. Right, the more he's going to pay for keeping me waiting.

The best things in life are free
But you can give them to the birds and bees

I'm going to take a stand right now and just say: I did not vote for Paris Hilton. I don't know what anyone was smoking at the polls, but it clearly addled some brains.

I lost a shoot today. According to the client, they don't want to do business with any Texans. I don't know how many times I have to explain that I've lived here, in NYC, for ten years.

PWP: Neil Flemming:
Charlie and I are coming to the restaurant tomorrow, and I'm gonna need a margarita. A big one. Suspect he might too, considering he just found out that his daughter is alive.

Neil - baby, darling, love of my life - we're going to see Bootylicious Friday. I've got tickets already, with the after party. Dressing up as 'Single Ladies' Beyonce, Y/Y?

I met a firefighter from Colorado when I was on assignment at Fort Scott. He was only being processed there, fashioned with a shiny NIC and preparing to move to New York City. His ex-wife died mere days after the initial blast at Carson City. When I first met him, he had been searching for his daughter, without any luck. Most of his family has had to move since then. I've heard hundreds of these sorts of stories. I've witnessed children dying, while their parents could do nothing to prevent it. Orphaned children. Siblings torn apart forever.

I'm not saying that every police officer is an upstanding citizen with not a single chip on his or her shoulder. I'm not denying that some people are being treated misfairly. I'm simply saying that it could be worse, much much worse. I took this photograph - and way too many just like it. I saw first-hand the damage that was done to a lot of places. This particular photograph was taken in Salt Lake City, 430 miles away from Carson City, and just on the outskirts of where all the major damage was.

Picture here! )

I had to remind myself of all of this when two cops showed up on my door, demanding all of my paperwork and checking out any place that could be a hidey-hole for refugees. When they made fun of my accent - I'm from Texas, but I've lived here for the past ten years. It felt like a violation, but when I really stopped to think about it, it could have been worse. A whole lot worse.
